The spirit strives
but the flesh don’t care.
away, away the summer drives
the bitter wind
       assaults my hair.

I down a round
of roast beef
and spit out words
directed at the chief.

I take Blake’s tyger
by the tail
and down another swig
       of chestnut ale.
